Silver Shines for Wanderers’ U11 Girls!

Bolton’s U11 Girls Competitive team distinguished themselves well at the recent Collingwood United Invitational Tournament. The weekend schedule saw the Wanderers play six games on the way to a silver medal.

Game one found Alexa Stegeman and Hope Pullicino score goals in a 2-0 victory over the Burlington Avalanche.   Call-up, Allison French proved the star of game two turning in a superb performance in goal for the Wanderers in a tight 0-1 loss to the Ajax Turbo’s.

Bolton found its scoring touch in game three against King United with Hailey Mazzatenta turning in a hat-trick and Adrienne Rachiele, Bianca McCauley, Maggie Kortekaas, Kamrin Ward and Shannon Higgs all picking up singles.   Collingwood would suffer a 5-1 loss to the Wanderers in the last preliminary match of the tourney.  Liza Knill led the way with a pair of goals.   Shannon Higgs, Hope Pullicino, and Alessia Boem chipped in the rest to advance Bolton to the semi-final in a re-match with Ajax.

The semi-final had plenty of pace and action but no score at the end of regulation time.  This set the stage for a dramatic finish in penalty kicks.   Kamrin Ward, Shannon Higgs, and Hope Pullicino all stepped up and each found the mark much to the delight of team-mates and Bolton supporters.   The championship final saw the Wanderers take on Aurora Stingers “A”.   And, despite a valiant effort, Bolton came up short 0-2 and having to settle for silver.

The Wanderers U11 Girls Collingwood Invitational Silver Medalists are: Alessia Boem, Mia Cadieux, Allison French, Nicole French, Alexandra Gandza, Kennedy Hanczyk, Shannon Higgs, Madison Johnston, Liza Knill, Maggie Kortekaas, Hailey Mazzatenta, Bianca McCauley, Hope Pullicino, Adrienne Rachiele, Alexa Stegeman, and Kamrin Ward.  Congratulations to all as well as the coaching staff.
