Wanderers’ U9 Boys Finalists in Orangeville

Bolton’s U9 Boys Competitive team kicked-off their outdoor season Victoria Day weekend at Orangeville’s Stormfront Tournament. Looking for new challenges, the squad was entered in the Under 10 Division.

As a result, the younger Wanderers would have to step up their game against stronger, faster opponents.   And, they certainly did - taking full command in an 11-1 victory over Caledon and later defeating an experienced Erin Mills squad 5-3. Game three saw a fine team from Guelph hand Bolton its only loss (0-5) in the round-robin segment of the tourney.

Based on the head to head win over Erin Mills, the Wanderers found themselves in a semi final against Georgetown.  Bolton would trail on three separate occasions, but managed to send the match into overtime before celebrating a 4-3 win and achieving an amazing new team milestone of eight consecutive tournament final appearances!  Bounces simply didn’t go the Wanderers’ way in the championship game, and the U10 squad from East Gwillimbury captured the tournament title 5-0.

Better for the experience, Bolton’s U9 Boys are to be congratulated for their strong efforts throughout the weekend and bringing home silver.  Here’s the line-up: Nicolas Clemenzi, Matthew Minna, Adamo Ditullio, Massimo Galluzzo, Justin Chiodo;  Xavier Borrelli, Salvatore Mazzaferro, Anthony Sigismondo, Joseph Caridi, Andrew Steko, David Amato, and Thomas Furlano.  Coaching staff are: John Groe, Gaspare Clemenzi, Michele Steko.

Thanks go out to the team’s parents and supporters – especially its valued sponsors: MAPEI, EPI Electrical, Van Mechanical, Mustang Investigations, Tom's Family Restaurant, Admore Financial, Sherwood Group, and
